Vida Hargrett


Vida Hargrett took over as the UFTL Cheer coach in the summer of 2021. She brings years of personal experience and coaching to the school. Hargrett looks to grow and develop the program for the Eagles.

As a 4-year cheerleading veteran and Master’s degree graduate, Hargrett served as a volunteer cheerleading coach in 2018 at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), where she assisted in landing the Lady Rattlers in the 2nd place spot at the MEAC National Cheerleading Championship.

Before FAMU, Hargrett served four years as the cheerleading coach at Leon High School in Tallahassee, Fla., where she trained, strengthened, and developed student-athletes.

After relocating to South Florida, Hargrett joined the Patriot family as a cheerleading coach at Miramar High School. Here she led the Miramar cheerleaders to the first-ever District Championship title with three consecutive wins following, 2x top-three placement at the FHSAA State Cheerleading competition, and a first-ever appearance at the National High School Cheerleading Championship, placing ninth in the nation out of 43 other competitive teams under Coach Hargrett’s leadership. While at Miramar, the team was named the Team of the Year twice. Hargrett was also named the Coach of the Year both years.

In 2018 she accepted the Head Cheerleading Coach position at Florida Memorial University. During her time, Hargrett transformed the cheerleading program and elevated the team into being recognized as a competitive sport by the NAIA at FMU. She was awarded the Champions of Character award and served as the Champions of Character Liaison for the athletic department.

Hargrett is a 2003 graduate of Woodham High School in Pensacola, Fla. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Fla.

Hargrett performed in the halftime Pro-Bowl Show in Honolulu, Hawaii as an All-American Cheerleader. She was chosen as a recruit for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading Tryouts and was a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader finalist who comes with over 20 years of active cheerleading experience.

Hargrett currently resides in Fort Lauderdale with her husband, Chrisdon and their two children.
