Chris Maple

– Sports Information Director

Chris Maple brings two years of administrative experience and seven years of sports information experience to the University of Fort Lauderdale. He was the assistant athletic director for communications at Northwestern Oklahoma State University before joining UFTL.

Maple oversaw all athletic communications for the athletic department while serving as the primary contact for men’s and women’s cross country, men’s basketball, football, men’s and women’s golf, softball and women’s track & field.

A native of Tupelo, Okla., Maple managed communications with local, state, and national coverage of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s 14 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs. As the assistant athletic director for communications, he grew a staff of student workers to assist with game-day operations while also managing the social media account and athletic website.

Maple moved to NWOSU after working as the assistant sports information director at Oklahoma City University. He assisted in the coverage for Oklahoma City University’s 22 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs for the 2018-19 school year. There he served as the primary statistician for OCU’s baseball and men’s and women’s soccer games.

He is a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Recreation, with a minor in Health and Physical Education in 2016. He has a graduate certificate in Athletic Administration in 2019 from Southern New Hampshire University and finishing up his master’s of Business in Sports Management.

Maple worked as the student assistant sports information director, helping with Southeastern Oklahoma State’s 12 varsity athletic programs from 2012-16. He assisted in stating their men’s and women’s basketball, football, volleyball games while primarily being the statistician for baseball.

Maple began his career in athletic communications during his time at Murray State College from 2009-12, while he was the director of operations for the baseball program.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Recreation with a minor in Health and Physical Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2016 and is pursuing a master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University. He has completed a graduate certificate in Athletic Administration.

Maple and his wife Leah live in Fort Lauderdale with their two cats Scooter Jay and Sid Lee.
