CARLOS CASELY ANNOUNCED AS THE UFTL INAUGURAL HEAD TENNIS COACH
Carlos Casely brings a name that has been globally recognized for more than 20 years in the tennis world to the position of Head Coach for the University of Fort Lauderdale Men & Women’s Tennis Programs.
Coach Casely has spent the last 12 years as Director of his tennis academy, the Casely Tennis Academy. Previously from 2003 to 2008, he was successful at the Collegiate NCAA Division I level when for six years he led the Florida International University Golden Panthers Women’s Tennis Program, first as an Assistant and then as Head Coach, achieving unprecedented success during his tenure. Prior to his arrival, FIU’s best finish had been second in its conference, then starting in the second year after his arrival the team won 3 consecutive Sun Belt Conference Championships, with 5 NCAA National Tournament appearances. His teams also won the Athletic Department’s team GPA award every year he was with the FIU program, which is an achievement he mentions with special pride.
Prior to his tenure at Florida International University Coach Casely spent several years as a professional coach on the ITF and USTA Junior and Professional Circuits guiding and developing world class tennis players. Over the years, players in Casely programs have received over 700 scholarships to colleges and universities.
For the past 20 years Coach Casely has been Director of the Casely International Championships, the world’s premier global platform for talented players to train, compete, and grow. A month-long competition comprised of 16 consecutive 2-day tournaments, the “Caselys” as they are known, attract top players from every continent on the globe, with over 3,000 matches played in November and December of each year.
As a player, Carlos Casely was ranked among the Top 10 players in Florida in the Men’s Open Division and enjoyed success as a professional player. His playing experience, along with his academic preparation as a Sports Psychologist with his degree received at Florida International University in 2007, are assets that contribute in a big way to his success in player development and as a game day coach.
Coach Casely has earned the respect of players, parents, and coaches around the world which makes him an extremely strong recruiter of prospective student athletes, which he plans to employ as he seeks an accelerated growth for the University of Fort Lauderdale Soaring Eagles Tennis Program, commented UFTL Athletic Director Fernando Valenzuela.
