Coach Hilyard brings over 25 years of high school, club and men’s league experience to UFTL. He is a mainstay in the South Florida soccer community having coached at Hollywood Hills High School for 26 years and playing in the Gold Coast Soccer League and other men’s leagues for over 20 years.

As a coach, Hilyard has experience working with young players in various development camps and clubs including the Plantation Eagles, Cooper City Cobras and Boca Raton Sabres. He assisted the program at Broward Community College from 1987 through 1990, and he also guided Hollywood Hills to the high school state championship in 2002 and won the district 11-6A title in 2010. He earned Coach of the Year honors in 2002 and was appointed to coach the BCAA All-Star team three times and is a founding member of the Florida Soccer Coaches Association. He also assisted coach Rick Pabon with Floridians FC of the PDL. He currently holds the USSF B License and the USC (NSCAA) National Coaching diploma.
Hilyard graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where he played right midfield and forward and was named an All American his senior year. He was also a member of the Florida U-23 Select Team and played with the USISL’s Ft. Lauderdale Kicks. He resides with his wife Deborah in Davie.
